The St. Clair Shores Civic Chorus, formed in 1962, by beloved St. Clair Shores resident, Ruth Brennan, has seen many changes in its years of existence. Ruth faithfully served as director until the Spring of 1993, at which time she the baton to Mrs.Virginia Rivard Stieler, who adapted our name in the Fall of 1995 to better represent our membership.

Since residents of Detroit, Clinton Township, Eastpointe, Roseville, Harper Woods, and St. Clair Shores proudly represent us; The St. Clair Shores Community Chorus seemed well suited. "Ginnie" retired in the Spring of 1998.

Since 1998 the chorus has been under the musical and creative direction of Ms. Cynthia Ohrt. Cindy, retired after 38 years, was musical director within the Lake Shore Public Schools since 1973. She has directed many award winning choral ensembles and leaves behind the legacy of decades worth of Lake Shore High School Broadway performances.

In addition to our annual Christmas and Spring concerts, the Chorus has participated in numerous charitable appearances for senior citizens and other interested groups and organizations.

The Chorus has also had the privilege of singing at the St. Clair Shores Annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony and participating in the annual Memorial Day Parade.

We are always pleased to welcome new members. No auditions are required for general membership.
