First Place Scholarship Winner - Miranda Cole

Miranda Cole is a senior at Fraser High School. She has participated in many organizations during her years at Fraser; Tri-M Music Honors Society, Fraser Singers, Symphony Band, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Brass Ensemble, FPACA (Fraser Performing Arts Career Academy), and Theatre (plays and musicals, theatre camp director in summer). She has been in 16 productions at Fraser High School since 2006 and is currently working on her seventeenth.

Miranda is planning on attending Oakland University to pursue a degree in Musical Theatre. Once she has obtained her degree she aspires to move to New York and follow her dreams of having a career on the stage.

But Ms. Cole’s personal life goal is to bring joy and entertainment to all those who see her performing onstage. She hopes to be someone’s role model someday. She also hopes to move someone to tears, or to give a laugh to someone who needs it, through her performances.

Second Place Winner - Jessica Boehmer

Jessica Boehmer is a senior at Grosse Pointe South High School. She has participated in many organizations during her high school years; Grosse Pointe Show Choir including Tower Belles Show Choir, Pointe Singers, South Singers Dance, Pointe Players, National Honor Society, Tri-M Society, and Spanish Honor Society. She has been in performances of Mary PoppinsIt’s Murder in the Wings, and You Can’t Take It With You, while in Pointe Players. Ms. Boehmer has also performed with the Grosse Pointe Theatre in Les Miserables, Singing In The Rain, and Beauty and The Beast as well as helping with costumes, set building and ushering. Jessica was also a scholarship winner through Grosse Pointe Theatre.

Jessica does volunteer work with many charity organizations and through her church.

Ms. Boehmer is awaiting auditions before selecting a college. Her plans after graduating college are to move to New York or Chicago and pursue a professional career in theatre. She hopes to use the skills, training, and confidence she obtains from college in her future auditions.

But her personal life goal is to follow her passions in musical theatre and perform wherever and whenever she has the opportunity.

Third Place Winner (Tie) - Lucy Bemiss

Lucy Bemiss is a senior at Regina High School. Since freshman year, she has been an active member in The Regina Players and De LaSalle WAMS (Wigs & Mask Society), in which she performed in 3-4 plays/musicals each year. During her Junior and Senior year she was a member of De LaSalle Show Choir, and Sophomore through Senior years she was a member in Regina Choral Ensemble.

Ms. Bemiss will be attending Wayne State University and wishes to obtain a degree in Public Relations with a minor in Musical Theatre. After graduating college, she wishes to become a representative for her family’s business “Old World Gluten-Free Pierogi”, in Poland. She hopes to be the social face of their company, therefore helping to promote, sell, and distribute their product internationally. While holding this position she hopes to continue with her passion of singing and acting.

But her personal life goal is to live every moment to its fullest and seize every opportunity she comes upon. She aspires to be a mother to 3-7 children and have a faith filled family to whom she can pass on her love of music and acting. Maybe they will be the next Von Trapp Family Singers!

Third Place Winner (Tie) - Andrew Hallam

Andrew Hallam is a senior at Grosse Pointe North High School. Since freshman year Mr. Hallman has been a member of many organizations; National Honor Society, Grosse Pointe North Soccer Team, Grosse Pointe North Drama Club, S.A.V.E. He has been accepted to six major Michigan universities and his decision will be made after all auditions have been completed. After college graduation he aspires to become a professional performer and take part in operas within The Michigan Opera Theatre or The Metropolitan Opera in NYC.

Through performing, he hopes to move people in a way that music has done for him, time and time again. Like his favorite quote from Hans Christian Andersen, “where words fail, music speaks”
